As the old tradition demands, a young man refuses to adhere to it as it threatens his relationship with the love of his life. A controversial cultural practice, where young brides were ordered to have sexual intercourse with their fathers-in-law first before they slept with their husbands, she was supposed to have sex with her husband’s father to verify whether she was a virgin. The new bride was not supposed to refuse as it was part of the custom. The following is the account of what happened.

A young man (Mpho) makes it out of the village to work in the city, as he is there, he meets a lovely young lady (Lame) and they fall in love. In order to consummate their love in marriage they have to go to the man’s village to undergo a traditional ritual called Breaking the Ground. Lame was always against the tradition because her tribe does not practice it. In the spirit of love for each other she agrees. Even though Mpho convinces her to go he himself has lots of reservation for the practice because of the danger it paused, but in order to get approval and validation from the father it has to be done. They head out to the village but his mind was not at peace. In the mid of it all, he changes his mind while the father was about to break the ground… the story unfolds…
